Index Explanation
All words
Index compiled from all author names, words from titles, words from annotations, words from corporate names and subjects.
This is therefore the most general index in this search system.
Phrase searching, wildcards and Boolean operators may be used.
Author
Index compiled from authors' names.
Wildcards may be used.

Title
Titles are indexed as a whole.
The title index is good to select if you know an exact title or a beginning of a title.
This index is only available with the search method <Index search>.
This index permits right truncation. It is therefore not necessary to enter the full title.
Title words
Index compiled from all single words from titles.
(1) Use this index if you do not know the exact title of the publication you are looking for. Searching by one or several title words which you do know may lead you to the correct reference. You can refine your search command by using Boolean operators.
(2) Useful also for searching by subject. Entry of a specific term leads to references with that term in the title..

Subjects
Index compiled from all subjects or parts of compound subjects.
Wildcards and Boolean operators may be used.
When searching via <Index search> you can familiarize yourself with this index by entering a search term.
ISBN/ISSN
Index compiled from all international standard publication numbers (ISBN=International Standard Book Number ; ISSN=International Standard Serial Number)
If you know the ISBN or ISSN of the publication you want, you can search very directly via this index. ISBNs and ISSNs are unique numbers designating each single book or journal/serial publication.
